ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mohamed Elachi was born in Morocco in 1983 where he spent part of his childhood. He moved to France at the age of nine.
Two years later he starts to study Kung Fu. He will at that time (he was then 12) win the French Championship. This victory drew the attention of the French national Kung-Fu team. During the next 6 years, Elachi wins the French Kung-Fu championship 8 times, in different categories (Weapons and Tao). His rankings with the French national team open the doors of international competitions. During the European championship where he competes with fighters much older than him he meets a stunt coordinator and joins his team.
That same year he shoots a first commercial in Japan where he plays an Italian soccer player.
At the age of 18 he participates in his first motion picture as a stuntman: District 13 produced by Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp
He continues to work on many other productions for the same company: Transporter 2, District 13: Ultimatum, From Paris With Love, The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec…
He performs as an actor in Lady Jane from director Robert Guédiguian.
As a stuntman Mohamed performs in more and more motion pictures ( Mensch, A Prophet) including US blockbusters like Hulk directed by Louis Letterier, Tekken, in which he was the lead’s stand-in and assisted Cyril Raffaeli with the fight choreographies; rehearsing the stunts for the actors and stuntmen, securing the stunts, etc.
As a director he did the making-of of the movie Djinn.
In 2012 he worked on the series Transporter produced by EuropaCorp. He worked as assistant choreographer with Cyril Raffaeli and he coached the actor Chris Evans.
“Chris is a fast learner. He did 90% of the fights. The 10% he was not doing were shots with explosions that the insurance companies prohibited him from performing. North American laws are very strict on that subject”
In the same series, he worked as adviser for the direction and choreography of combat scenes. He had the opportunity on this series to meet and work with some top US directors like Stephen Williams (Lost) and Brad Turner (24).
In the second season of the same series, he worked with the show runner Franck Spotnitz (Producer of The X-Files).
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Outlaws is a series about a prison/private hospital located in Canada. The facility is said to rehabilitate the prisoners and offer them more comfort than usual prisons.
In reality, there is more than meets the eye inside the prison walls.
It is populated with different kinds of prisoners, from small time thugs to professional killers. They all have one thing in common however, something special. it’s money. Perhaps, they are well educated and have knowledge in several areas but are considered too weak, sick or unable to be in a normal prison.
This private prison is a pretext for the prisoners to get security and tranquility. There is no violence or trafficking. Their only pastime is training and learning and recovery for others …
They are surrounded by a team of very competent guardians and professors; martial artists, medical physicians, psychologists, language teachers, mathematicians, computer scientists, etc.
Upon release they have to be able to blend into civilian life.
Problems arise for the manager of the facility when a group of hackers, in contact with the secret service, claims to have compromising information on the facility. According to them the prison is a training camp for gangsters.
A ruthless struggle will be led by the head of this hospital to silence these detractors … even if it takes the detainees’ special something to get there.
Outlaws is a drama series where the stakes are high and the plot lines unfold into more suspense. With a cast diverse in its personality, specialization and skill it offers its viewers action in all its forms. Dance, martial arts, training, weapon handling, to name a few, are all integral to the story. The pilot is 70 minutes long, it was shot in Canada with a Canon 7D and a budget of 2000$ but without a film crew. The goal was to develop and define Outlaws’ style and rhythm to then review and re-adapt its writing.
